2011 Buckeye Volleyball Club
 Girls Junior Beach Volleyball

       2012 Buckeye Volleyball Club
      Girls Junior Beach Volleyball

This program will help players both physically and mentally for the
game of indoor volleyball. With so much ground to cover for two
players, the teams will learn how to implement ball control and correct
body positioning into their game. Through the training in the sand,
players will improve strength, endurance, and vertical ability. The
game is a wonderful off-season training option as the sand absorbs
impact and is better on joints. Furthermore, this program alleviates the
burnout of playing indoor year round.

This year we are going to offer conditioning before practice.  We are
separating the conditioning part of the program to give players the
option  of doing one or the other.  We had a number of players who
wanted to do the conditioning only.  This year Brad Sealock and
Lauren Sealock will be helping with the conditioning program.

Buckeye Volleyball Club Junior Beach Program will cover the cost of
Practice, Coaching and the OVR Championships.  Parents and
players will play for tournaments they decide to enter during the
summer beach season.  This will allow flexibility for vacation's and
other activities.  You can enter 2 tournament or 5 tournaments.  You
have the ability to control your tournament schedule around family
events.

There will be two informational meetings set-up for the Beach
Volleyball Season:

Beavercreek. He has coached at Kaepa Buckeye for two years as well
as at Bexley. He has run youth camps for both boys and girls all
around the area. He has coached personal lessons for indoor and
sand for a wide array of ages and skill sets. As a player, Brenden has
competed on the AVP Young Guns tournament, and finished 7th in the
2010 Bradford Beach (Milwaukee) 26 year old and under professional
tournament. He continues to compete in the Ohio Valley Tour sand
volleyball in open level tournaments and has multiple top 3 finishes at
the "open" level. Coach Brenden will specialize in training left sides,
setting and blockers.

Coach Chad Arrington is from Findlay Ohio. He picked up volleyball
after high school, and played in numerous competitive leagues in
Findlay and Bowling Green. Chad also won the Men's "Power"
League in Bowling Green 2 years in a row. Chad has experience at
every position from setter to outside hitter. Coach Arrington has
helped out with local middle and high school teams, including running
tryouts, serving as a "practice player" and facilitating practices.

Coach Clint Gentry will be returning for his second year of coaching
sand with Buckeye. Coach Gentry has a wealth of knowledge and
experience in both indoor and sand volleyball. He has played and
coached at a very high level in both. Clint played club volleyball at
Wright State University, and competes in the Open division of indoor
volleyball in the adults' OVR and Elevation division. As a sand player,
Clint has competed in the EVP Wide Open Tour, AVP qualifiers, the
Ohio Valley Tour and the open level for 9 seasons. Clint's coaching
experience includes assisting camps at Ohio State and Sports

another great season of Buckeye beach volleyball!

Chad has been playing in beach tournaments around the Ohio
Valley Region for the last 6 years. He competes in the"Open" Level
tournaments in Cleveland, Dayton, Toledo, and Cincinnati. Chad
comes to Buckeye Sand Volleyball with a wealth of knowledge,
especially as a defensive player. He also has a strong background in
personal training, specifically in sand. Coach Arrington has a passion
for coaching and loves introducing the beach volleyball game to
indoor players. With his positive and upbeat personality, players can
expect to have fun while working hard. Coach Arrington will work a lot
with defense, serve receive, and left side players.

How is Beach Volleyball different than indoor?
Indoor teams consist of 6 players on the court, compared to Beach,
where there are 2 players per court. On the beach, there are no
specializations like libero or setter, so every player must be capable of
performing every skill. This makes for a more well rounded, better
player in the long run. Moving and playing volleyball in the sand can
be very difficult. Going from indoor to beach is difficult and requires
an adjustment period. However, you will return to indoor as a much
stronger player! Beach builds quick twitch muscle fibers, especially in
your legs. When you get back to playing indoor volleyball, you will be
much quicker laterally and stronger vertically (your hops will improve).
Training in the sand will definitely improve the player’s mobility,
stamina, and mental focus.

Nationally, USA Volleyball has become the sanctioning body for sand
volleyball and is now mandating all USAV regions begin the process
of developing sand volleyball clubs and competition opportunities for
its memebers.  Year in and year out, the OVR is one of the largest
regions in the country.  USA BEACH is looking to us to set the
standard for strong, organized sand volleyball programs in the
Midwest.

Beginning August 1st, 2011 at the collegiate level, the NCAA has
officially approved Womens's Sand Volleyball as an emerging
collegiate varsity sport.  Division I and II colleges and universities will
now have the opportunity to recruit and give scholarships to sand
volleyball student athletes like they currently offer indoor volleyball
student athletes.
